Amazing Powerful Concert
I'm so glad I found out late about the Ryman show but I didn't let the ticket location stop me. When Ticketmaster advises "obstructed view" in the Ryman, they mean it, know that. A packed house crowd of loyal fans being energized by their music and singing along made for just the right atmosphere. The history and acoustics of the Ryman along with the power and punch of QOTSA was a magical combination.
I say, a worthy show sure to leave you a fan when leaving, no matter your location nor your knowledge of the QOTSA music. The smaller the venue, the better, I say. The Ryman was JUST right in this case, especially after I moved around a bit to see better.
While security can always be a distraction at any Ryman rock show, it didn't take long to get so caught up in the show that it no longer even entered your mind (unless you grooved on out into the isle a bit). If he had the stamina, I find it hard to believe that Josh in any of his musical incarnations isn't a household name. Thanks for some excellent memories and a great show.
First floor, back row and seats one and two along the isle (MF-3, row Z, seats 2-1) not only have columns between the seats and the stage but the balcony also blocks viewing anything above the artist chest making your clear view impossible when in a standing crowd (SURE, like you're going to sit through the Foy Vance).
